Video: Twist-Out Takedown

November 16th, 2011 at 3:09 pm.

Hey guys! I’ve been in an experimental sort of mood lately, and because of the downpourish weather we’re having here on the East Coast today…I uploaded a quick video on how I take down my twists for a regular twist-out! The fact that I mustered up the patience to edit this is just…*pats self on back.* I recorded early yesterday morning before heading out for the day, so pardon the pre-dawn haze. Not sure how I even managed to go over 5 minutes doing this…but I digress.

Last night I attended a preview event for the upcoming line, Beautiful Tresses and was counting on Fro to behave….which she did, even in light of a few early showers. Also had a few other errands to run that day, including a job interview so in the end I managed to clip the hair away from the face and rock a mini pompadour look.

To style I used Roots of Nature Mango Oil & CuPuacu Butter Whip Oil Cream under ‘ol regular EO Rose Conditioner. Fro decided to take longer than usual to dry, so damp twists were accounted for….still managed to make it work! I’ve got a full recap and low-down on the new Beautiful Tresses collection to come, as well as a review of the CuPuacu Butter Cream.

If you have questions, comments on what I did in the video, drop em down below…!

When did you put the EO rose conditioner on and at what point did you put the other products on?

Also, you are soooo young. Your profile picture makes you look older. You may want to soften. Peace.

hey, Jami – I used the butter as a leave-in, then added the EO conditioner. nothing else much after that until the next day when I have to unravel. lol, & thanks for the compliment…I guess 30 is still young…yeah? :-) !

Gorgeous! The one thing I look forward to is being able to rock a twistout. My remaining relaxed ends just won’t let me be great. It doesn’t matter what kind of holding product I use, they will just not remain in the twist set. Same thing with bantu knot-outs. They look great for the first hour after I release them…then it’s a wrap. And it looks even worse now that my hair is 85% natural. I should just cut the rest of my relaxer off…

hey, KB..have you tried using small perm rods on the ends? When I went through heat damage few years ago, the ends of my hair was completely straight, it really did appear as if I was back to transitioning. the rods did help. Or….you can take the leap and BC:=). you’d have a ton of support…

I’ve used perm rods on my braidouts but never on a twistout. My hair is straight right now, but I’m planning to wash it out on Saturday night…maybe I will try a twistout again, this time with the rods.

I’ve been “transitioning” for just about two years now, so I really should just chop. At this point it’s just because I don’t like how uneven my hair is– it’s almost mullet-like. I was planning to give it until May, but who knows. I already snipped off a chunk of relaxer in the middle of my head (that straightened piece is shoulder-length!). My shears are always ready.

I love it! How do you keep it looking nice the day after? I’m going to twist my 12 year old’s hair in just a few minutes!

thanks, LaTonya! I either twist into large chunks the night of, or do a semi pineapple on top, and two puffs on the side. Trick for me is to tie it up some how by either twisting or securing with a light twist tie!
